Shopify Theme DetectorPrivacy Policy

The short version
Shopify Theme Detector does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. The extension has no server and no account, and it makes no network requests while you use it. The theme and app databases are bundled inside the extension. The only thing it keeps is a short list of the stores you checked, and that list stays on your own device.
What the extension does with your data

Permissions and why they exist

activeTab | Read the address and the page of the tab you are on, only at the moment you click the extension icon, to find out whether it is a Shopify store and which theme and apps it uses. It grants nothing until you click, and nothing on any other tab. |
scripting | Run the extension's own bundled reading functions in the tab you clicked on, in the page and in the page's main world, to collect the script and stylesheet addresses and the Shopify theme object. No code is downloaded or injected from anywhere else. |
storage | Keep the list of stores you checked and small settings on your own device, in chrome.storage.local. This data is never sent anywhere. |
What the extension does not have
- No host permissions and no
<all_urls>: it cannot read any site on its own. - No
downloadspermission and notabspermission. - No remote code: every line it runs is inside the package you installed.
- No network requests while you use it: no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, no update of its databases from a server.
Third parties
The extension itself talks to no third party. This website, which opens once after installation, is served by a static hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) and may record standard web-server information such as an IP address and a browser user agent in its logs. It may also carry a visit counter from Umami, so that we can tell how many people installed the extension. Umami sets no cookies, collects no personal data and builds no profile across sites; it records the page view, the referrer and a coarse country. Fonts and images are served from this site itself. The pages carry no advertising and identify nobody.
Children
The extension is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top.
